Who I am

My name is Michael, I have over a decade in the gaming industry and I have been on the launch teams for some of the biggest multiplayer games in existence.

I have achieved a lot in my career, so thought the best way for you to get to know my skills, experience and the type of things I am good at is to provide a timeline of the past 10 years.

Timeline

  • Feb 2014 - Joined a small Start-up called Multiplay to help with tech support for B2C game servers and the huge influx in Rust servers.

    • Helped with technical support for game servers for over 50 different titles including Minecraft, Ark, Farming simulator and more.

    • Provided infrastructure support for multiple game tournaments across a number of Insomnia game festival events.

    • Received my first bit of experience working with AAA game studios by helping out with migrating Respawn’s Titanfall 1 from Azure onto Multiplay’s tech.

  • Oct 2016 - Lead technical support for the launch of Respawn’s Titanfall 2 on Multiplay’s hybrid scaling technology (Also pretty sure I was one of the first people to complete the campaign in the world)

  • Apr 2017 - Promoted to technical operations manager, in charge of Multiplay’s entire technical support division.

  • Nov 2017 - Unity acquires Multiplay, my job becomes more about teaching the wider Unity organisation what exactly it is we do.

  • Jan 2018 - Promoted to Unity’s Global Support Manager

    • Went on to build, hire and train a full developer support engineering team, spread out across the UK, USA and South Korea.

    • Continued to train international members of Unity on what Multiplay’s tech stack is capable of.

  • Feb 2019 - Was directly in charge of providing launch readiness support for the biggest game launch of my career, Apex Legends.

  • Sep 2019 - Started a new role as a technical support manager at my second start-up, Gameye.

    • Along side the CPO, ran the world’s first test of multiplayer game servers on a 5G network with the help of Vodafone.

    • Helped launch a number of games on Gameye’s tech stack including Pacer, Chivalry 2 and Slapshot: Rebound

  • Feb 2021 - Started up my own consulting gig, focusing on providing my services and expertise to a number of different start-ups and industries.

    • Helped Accelbyte with their hyper scaling technology, including customer facing documentation, hardware procurement and best practices for launching online games.

    • Finalized my first sales deal, providing one of Accelbyte’s clients with bare-metal infrastructure across multiple different countries, totalling $70k a month in hardware.

    • Dipped my toes into the world of Fintech to help improve Argyle’s technical support capabilities.

    • Aug 2021 - Alongside my brother, formed our own start-up providing low cost 3D printing on demand - 3Dnow.uk

    • Provided over 100 unique customers with their 3D printed designs directly to their door.

  • Jan 2022 - Joined G-core and began my business development career, learning how Cloud and Bare-metal infrastructure works behind the scenes.

    • Managed to achieve 70% of my yearly target in a single deal, providing infrastructure to a UK based low orbit satellite broadband provider.

  • April 2023 - Joined Creative Assembly as a Service Operations Engineer to help get their new live services game, ‘Hyenas’ ready for launch.

    • Unfortunately Hyenas was cancelled, but I did play a part in launching Total War: Pharaohs.

  • Jan 2024 - Took on a new role as a Cloud Optimization Engineer, with the focus on reducing Creative Assembly’s cloud spend. Within a few months, I had reduced their total Cloud bill by 40% per month.
